The Seventh Shrine

Chadwick Library Press is pleased to announce a newly revised edition of Orland Bishop’s epic poem The Seventh Shrine: Heart Cognitions on the African Spiritual Journey: From the Middle Passage to the Mountaintop.

This edition was designed under the guidance of Martino Mardersteig, of Verona, Italy, in Garamond MM version and Calibri font. The setting and printing is by Opero, also of Verona, on Ivory Smooth paper, and the binding is by Ruggero Rigoldi in Monza, Italy.

This edition consists of 750 copies, 150 of which are bound in full leather (numbered 1–100 and 50 unnumbered, out of commerce), and 600 cloth-bound with leather spines.

The first edition of The Seventh Shrine was printed in 2017 by Lindisfarne Books (an imprint of SteinerBooks / Anthroposophic Press).

"The Word releases life into the world of existence."

"Service is an impulse within every human being that enables us to recognize our
collective duty toward each other and to the world."

"The stars are the golden keys to the Mystery. They are the creative powers of thought, the awakening impulse that is aimed toward the human soul."

From the Introduction:

“This book reveals through the spiritual tradition of African Gnosis my identification with the impulses of particular individuals in the history of the African experience in America. Their lives and work reveal the spiritual frameworks that guided me in my understanding of the promise of the Spirit of America.

The nature of the soul is to evolve our bodies. The soul incarnates into the worlds of existence the potentials of the human spirit. It mediates the natural laws and the supranatural laws for the forming of human consciousness. This is a story of the forming of human consciousness through the fulfillment of soul potential and the creative intention that lives within reach of the human heart and mind.”
